"This excellent publication, called simply ‘JUSTIN DARANIYAGALA. OIL PAINTINGS’ has been a long time coming but now it brings this man’s fabulous work within reach of us all. It is an essential tribute to one of this country’s most brilliant citizens but it is recognition within Sri Lanka that could very well have gone by default. So my compliments in the first place to Arjun Deraniyagala, who I know was dedicated to this task with great resolve; and his daughter Yvani. They had the unreserved support of Siran Deraniyagala, Ashley de Vos and Sunethra Bandaranaike. As I say, it has finally made its appearance, and not a moment too soon".

"If I may pause here to comment on the quality of the colour printing obtained in this publication: the paintings are reproduced with due care and, as far as I can recall, as accurately as the art of printing can achieve. Not being able to compare them with the originals is an obvious disadvantage but while admiring the reproductions, we need also to take into account what changes take place when colour is condensed, as it has to be, when the reproduction is reduced in size to a mere fraction of the original".

My last few hours in Port Louis. We were told of an old building that had a lawyers office and had an old balcony that looked down into a courtyard. I met a man about to go to jail for a few years. Mr. Sinsamy is the lawyers assistant and wore a fine hat. and I liked his pink shirt. A charming man, I would like him on my side.

was a favourite of mine had named three country mansions ' Vantage',
'Usage' and 'Brief'. which tickled my fancy. The first sounded as if i
had taken advantage. Usage sounded awfully like a brothel. So
therefore, it had to be 'Brief', and still is"

H.M. Naqvi was born about three and half decades ago. In that time he graduated from Georgetown and the creative writing program at Boston University, worked in finance, ran a slam venue, and taught creative writing at B.U. He received a Lannan fellowship, a Phelam Prize, and read verse at Lollapalooza, on NPR and BBC. Presently, he resides in Karachi and smokes Davidoffs.

Dhritiman Chatterjee aka as Sundar

Dhritiman Chatterjee is an Indian actor. He began his acting career in 1970 as the protagonist of Satyajit Ray's Pratidwandi (The Adversary). Most of his acting work has been in the India's "parallel", or independent, cinema with filmmakers such as Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen and Aparna Sen, among others. He has also worked in English language films with well-known filmmakers such as Jane Campion. He has received several acting awards in India and has been on the Jury of the Indian National film Awards.

Dhritiman pursues a parallel career in advertising, social communications and documentary filmmaking.

Never a part of mainstream "Bollywood", he's made an astonishingly small number of films. In recent years he's wandered to assignments with filmmakers as diverse as Jane Campion and hugely successful Mumbai directors Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Mani Ratnam.

Dhritiman is his screen name. He is otherwise known as Sundar Chaterji and is quite active on the English stage in Chennai.
